Now in the Hush of Falling Autumn Leaves
One day, as you think back on younger days,
when reckless love left little room for thought,
remember laughing in the summer rain,
and dancing through the weighty winter storms.
Two rootless vines, stemming from distant shores,
together grew until what was distinct
was lost in the other. Now, what is yours
is mine as two in one are interlinked.
What once was wild and heady has become
a love so richly mellowed by the years
that strengthens us to face what is to come
as dusk descends until the dawn appears.
Now in the hush of falling autumn leaves,
we nurture still what love had once conceived.
